Second workshop on geophysical measurements in waste management
Malmö, 16-17 February, 2012
The Workshop provides an opportunity to gather experts from the fields of geophysical measurements and waste research to combine their skills and knowledge about landfills and other waste facilities. The emphasis will be on the correlation between research progress on geophysical measurements and current waste research, environmental control and monitoring, and the understanding of landfill processes. Example of practical applications of geophysical methods in landfills and other waste facilities will be welcome.
The first workshop was held in Malmö in November 2008 and gathered 45 participants from 6 countries. In total 18 research works were presented and out of these, 5 presentations were further developed and presented as papers in Waste and Resource Management, Vol 164, February 2011.
The workshop encourages researchers to submit abstracts divided into one of the three topics below.
Topic 1. Groundwater contamination from landfills and other waste facilities
Topic 2. Internal processes and physical characterization of landfills and other waste facilities.
Topic 3. Pilot, field and laboratory scale experiments, including modeling.
